Ok, so here is how it all went down today.
I went to work till 10:30. I got Kathy up to the Surgery Centere before 12:00 because that is the time we were told to be there. After pre-op, and then the nerve block and more waiting.....Kathy did not go under the knife until 3:15 or 3:20. As Kathy was back in the surgery area the nurse took Kathy by the wrist to check if the nerve block was working and Kathy said, "OWWW!!!" The nerve block did not completly take so they had to put her under general anesthesia to preform the surgery. Kathy does not like the sound of crunching bones and most of us I'm sure are the same way so they put her to sleep to start the surgery. The entire procedure only took 40 minutes or so but it sure seemed longer. We finally got home about 5:30 after crawling our way home through the Bluebonnet Parking Lot......excuse me....Bluebonnet Blvd. Kathy really was not hungry for a large meal and had a peanut butter sandwich around 8:30. Well, it seems the swelling is getting bigger in the wrist and fingers. After a call to the on-call doctor he advised to take off the wrap and cut the gauze down the middle and re wrap. This has helped ease the pressure. Kathy is tired and moments of nausea show up every now and then.
It just might be a long night. Please keep Kathy in your prayers.

Surgery for broken wrist
Kathy and I had a great weekend vacation to Destin Florida. We were leaving Destin Sunday and stopped in Pensacola for lunch and shopping on the beach. Long story short, Kathy took a fall on a curb not marked and the result is a broken bone in her foot and wrist. She received treatment at Gulf Breeze Baptist Hospital to put the wrist in a splint and the foot in a boot. We will be calling today for an appointment for Kathy to see an orthopadic specialist and hopefully have the rest of the treatment today. Kathy is already expecting to be out of work for a minimum of 6 weeks.
- UPDATE: Kathy will have to have surgery Wednesday, July 30th. Dr. Ahmad will need to insert plates and screws into the wrist. The radius is broken at the joint and the ulna is fractured. For the broken bone in the foot, they outfitted her with a boot to keep the ankle stabilized.

The Flood of 2008
How do I describe what happened Sunday, June 22nd....how about I start it like this. I was back home from church with my daughters at 1:00, fixing them lunch when Kristina came up to me and said, "something is in the hall." In the past she has said there's a cockroach, snake, our dog threw up or peed on the floor but this time I knew something was different. I walked to the hall, turned on the light and there was the flood of 2008 in front of me. The cause: da toilet backed up and all this water was in the hall!!!! 3 hours later I had pulled up most of the water with my steam vac and surveyed the damage. The hall, the extra bedroom and our bedroom. I did not know at the time but our living room also got water once the water remediation team came out to remove the carpet on Monday. Now we are looking at putting down wood flooring in our living room, hall, and possibly the two bedrooms. While we are at it we are going to put down flooring in the girls playroom which is also the dinning room.
There are no words to describe the range of emotions this week. But through it all I have to say that that my wife Kathy was wonderful. Even though I did most the work this week from cleanup, to most of the packing and unpacking, laundry, and a few other misc. things....of course I won't let Kathy do any hard lifting because of the back surgery from November....we have relatively come through this without pulling out our hair or pulling out each other's hair. I'm thankful to our Lord that He kept us pretty sane through all of this.
What's next???? Picking out the correct flooring and taking our time to install. We are not in any rush to having this done by next week but I think a timetable of finishing by Christmas is our goal. We both work. We have two daughters that need our attention. I have a lawn to mow, bills to pay, family and friends that need our fellowship and life that just needs to be lived one day at a time. Nothing more and nothing less.

Another Dr. Visit
Howdy, I should have updated this after the appointment but I kept says, "oh, I'll get around to it." Well, I guess I didn't get around to it until now.
Here's the latest on Kathy. We went and saw Dr. Landreneau last week (or maybe it was the week before that) and gave Kathy a great report on her back. The X-ray's were perfect and gave Kathy the word that she can start driving again. This was very good news. Just getting back into the normal routine of life is very important. Now, Kathy will be going back to work in early February but she will have one more appointment before that. We are very confident that all will be well for Kathy to resume her duties at work.
